A cinephile from Ragusa, Raffaella is among the founders of Fitzcarraldo Cineclub -the only place that shows independent films in her hometown. Since 2001, Fitzcarraldo Cineclub has screened around 600 films, short films, documentaries and has organised movie related events (www.fitzcarraldo.org).
In 2016, Raffaella decided to run her own private cinema in her villa, during the summer season. She just painted a white wall, put 30 seats and started screening movies at Cinemino Polifemo. Cinemino Polifemo finally had an official season in 2018, thanks to the collaboration with Cineteca di Bologna and Cinema Ritrovato, a film restoration and distribution project.
In 2012, she took part in a trekking with donkeys from Forlì to Venice to join the international conference on degrowth in Venice. Raffaella kept a blog of the journey (decrescendodasud.wordpress.com) and made some interviews for a short film about slow living and degrowth.
Raffaella currently lives by the sea, where she hosts travellers and tourists in her villa.
