Synopsis: A documentary about the continuing case of Samsung semiconductor plant. “It was like I was in a different world. Men and women all wore same clothes and it looked like a small country. There were a factory, a dormitory, even a hospital. Just being there was sort of making me feel good. I can recall the first time I was in manufacturing line. Real robots working there.” The film is a story about nameless people wearing white coats, hats and masks who worked in a clean room exposing eyes only.
Director: Li-gyeong Hong majored in documentary studies at ESEC, a movie school in France. Later, she joined ‘PURN Production’ in Korea. There, she made her first feature film, “The Empire of Shame”, which follows the stories of Samsung semiconductor workers who have suffered work-related diseases.
