Synopsis: Hasankeyf, a small town in the southeast of Turkey, is destined to disappear under water due to the construction of the Ilısu Dam, part of the GAP, a major system of dams planned by the Turkish government in order to achieve the assimilation of the southeast Kurdish regions to central state. This assimilation is made throughout the submersion of the local identity. “Motel Hasankeyf” enquires the life of 4 women in this city and gives voice to their thoughts and fears, often unexpressed.
Biography: Grown up in Italy and after in Switzerland, Valeria studied international relations and international law, particularly focusing on human rights issues. She lately moved to Turkey where she started making documentaries. “Motel Hasankeyf” is her first short film, premiered at Antalya Film Festival.
