Human in Quest

Synopsis

Through three people leading very different lives, the film explores the search for meaning, our relationship with ourselves, and the unseen layers of life. Different in body, background, and experience, the characters follow similar questions in their own ways, while the film stays close to their changing relationships with themselves, their bodies, and their surroundings.

Moving between Cappadocia, Istanbul, and Fethiye, the story also brings in horses as part of a wordless bond shaped by memory and intuition. With its poetic visual language, the film includes the director’s own questioning in this journey. As three separate lives come together, the personal gradually becomes shared, and the search for meaning emerges not only as their experience, but as a deeply human one.

Director Biography

Aslı Akdağ

Documentary filmmaker and producer working at the intersection of law and cinema. Holding a master’s degree in Film and Drama, she explores the body, memory, identity, and the search for meaning through an observational cinematic language. Her first feature documentary received the Special Jury Award at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival and Best Documentary awards at the Ankara Film Festival and Golden Saffron Documentary Film Festival, and was later screened on MUBI. A documentary she produced received a Special Mention at Berlinale Generation Kplus, while another premiered at DokuBaku. She is currently developing the screenplay for her first fiction feature.
