Synopsis

When sunset brings darkness, the land that was a simple field in daylight becomes a dangerous, gloomy path. People tread this route in search of a better life. Over five thousand people died or were recorded as "missing" along these borders in the last decade.

Night sounds fill the film. Animal calls and heavy breathing break the dark alongside quick flashes of light. These elements create a sense of displacement and disorientation. They also intensify a growing feeling of threat. Central American migrants try to cross the US border on foot. What we see, what we do not see, and what we hear let us feel the full physical and emotional weight of this arduous journey.

Director Biography

Violeta Mora

Central American artist in the diaspora. Weaver of images, sounds and threads. She is a graduate in Documentary Directing from the International School of Film and TV – EICTV in Cuba and from the DocNomads master’s program in Portugal, Hungary, and Belgium, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the Central American Technological University of Honduras. Her work has been screened at festivals such as Visions du Reél, Camden IFF, FICUNAM, Sheffield DocFest, Dok Leipzig, FicValdivia, among others, and in museums and cultural spaces in various countries.
