Walking and Singing Endangered Worlds

Synopsis

Set in the Peruvian Amazon, the film combines 360° footage with animation, sound art, poetry, and paintings by Indigenous artists to take us deep into the rainforest. Guided by the voices of trees, spirits, people, and other beings, this experimental journey moves between the Amazon’s ecological and spiritual worlds. It focuses on Indigenous communities whose lands are threatened by mining and drug trafficking, and who continue to fight for their protection. The forest emerges as a living world where every form of life is connected, while the film draws attention to how fragile those connections can be. Created through a wide range of collaborations, it offers a many-voiced tribute to the Amazon’s people, trees, and spirits.

Director Biography

Eliana Otta

Peruvian visual artist. She holds a degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s in Cultural Studies from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. She completed her doctorate in the PhD in Practice program at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with the project Lost and Shared: Approaches to Collective Mourning Towards Affective and Transformative Politics.
