Berlin based film distributor and international sales agent. He studied Film and Electronic Arts at Bard College in New York. He began his career as an acquisitions assistant at the independent film distribution company, Magnolia Pictures. After returning to Germany, he worked at the European Film Market division of the Berlin Film Festival. He has been working in independent film distribution and international sales at Monoduo Films for over fifteen years. Bassauer, who especially focuses on original and artist based documentaries that explore music and culture, enables independent documentaries to reach audiences in different countries.
Some of the films featured in the catalog and distribution portfolio of Monoduo Films' are: Sisters with Transistors, In the Court of the Crimson King, Pulp: A Film About Life, Death & Supermarkets and Symphony of the Ursus Factory.
Bassauer, who has served as a jury member at Krakow Film Festival and DOK.fest Munich, was also in the jury of DokuFest alongside BIFED Festival Director Petra Holzer.
